About our school

At St Mary of the Cross, we are more than a school — we are a faith-filled community where every child is known, valued, and supported to grow. Inspired by Mary MacKillop’s servant leadership, we live out our school values of Respect, Success, Inclusivity, and Integrity in all that we do.
These values are at the heart of our identity. We teach children to honour the dignity of others, strive for personal excellence, embrace diversity, and lead with honesty and compassion — all grounded in the teachings of Jesus. Through scripture, prayer, liturgy, and everyday actions, our values are brought to life in meaningful and practical ways.
We believe every child is unique, with their own gifts, passions, and learning needs. Our approach is personalised and inclusive, with a strong commitment to student voice and wellbeing. Children are encouraged to take ownership of their learning, guided by supportive relationships and a safe, nurturing environment.
St Mary of the Cross is a place where faith and learning come together, and where our values guide us to grow as learners, leaders, and people of hope.

Principal's Message
At St Mary of the Cross, we pride ourselves on being more than just a school — we are a connected and welcoming community. From the moment you walk through our front door, you’ll experience a strong sense of belonging, built on respectful relationships, shared values, and a deep commitment to nurturing every child.
Our faith is at the heart of everything we do. Inspired by the life and legacy of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop, Australia’s first saint, we strive to follow her example of compassion, courage and service. Her words, “Never see a need without doing something about it,â€Â guide our mission and our daily actions. We encourage our students to live out their faith in meaningful ways — showing kindness, standing up for others, and contributing to the common good.
Our vibrant Parent and Friends community plays an active role in shaping the heart of our school, working in partnership with staff to enrich the educational journey for all students. We believe that learning is most powerful when it is a shared responsibility between school and home, and our strong parent-school connections reflect this belief in action.
Teaching and learning at St Mary of the Cross is purposeful and intentional. We have a strong focus on explicit instruction — a research-informed approach that ensures every child has clarity, support, and challenge in their learning. Alongside this, our commitment to Positive Behaviours for Learning (PBL) underpins a safe, respectful and engaging environment where children can thrive both academically and personally.
We invite you to come and experience what makes our school so special — a nurturing place where children grow in faith, love of learning, and connection with one another.
