About our school

St Joseph’s Primary School in Elsternwick is a welcoming, vibrant and inclusive ¶¶ÒõÆƽâ learning community. Housed in a beautiful historic mansion, the school offers 14 straight grades from Prep to Year 6, with two classes at each year level. Students have access to modern technology, including a 1:1 Chromebook program from Year 2. Specialist subjects include Physical Education, Visual Arts, Music and Italian.

Our curriculum, based on the Victorian Curriculum and enriched through the Google platform, is delivered using evidence-based, pedagogically sound teaching practices. Targeted intervention and extension programs support all learners. We prioritise student wellbeing, recognising its crucial link to learning success, and foster strong relationships with families.

Students enjoy school camps, biennial productions, and art shows, which build community spirit and celebrate The Arts. Parents play an active role through classroom assistance, fundraising, and sports programs.

Faith and social justice are central to school life, with opportunities to engage in liturgies, sacraments, and service initiatives like Project Compassion and the St Vincent de Paul Appeals.

At the heart of St Joseph’s is our dedicated staff who nurture each child’s academic, emotional, physical, and spiritual growth, striving to develop compassionate, capable learners ready to contribute meaningfully to the world.
