About our school

The name of our school, Sacred Heart Primary School, means that Jesus Christ is central to our identity as a ¶¶ÒõÆƽâ school.
In August 1901, Mary MacKillop was instrumental in the opening of our school. A wooden building was erected next to the church in Newcastle Street and laid the foundations for what is now a school steeped in history and proud of a story that is over one hundred and twenty years old.
The Sisters of St. Joseph taught at and provided leadership at Sacred Heart Primary School until very recently. Whilst religious staff have made way for lay teachers, the early traditions and values still form an integral part of the Sacred Heart School philosophy.
Our current Principal, Mrs Kaylene Carlin, proudly continues the work initiated by the Sisters of St. Joseph.
Today, Sacred Heart is a thriving ¶¶ÒõÆƽâ learning community where faith, wellbeing and academic excellence for are at the heart of all we do.
With a strong sense of belonging and commitment to each child’s growth, we nurture confident, compassionate and capable learners.
Our teaching is guided by evidence-based, explicit instruction in English & Mathematics, ensuring every student is supported and challenged to achieve their best.
School Tours by appointment only for the remainder of 2025.

Principal's Message
At Sacred Heart Primary School, the child is at the centre of everything we do.
We recognise the importance of developing the whole child, leading to a full flourishing across the physical, cognitive, emotional, social and religious domains within a safe and supportive environment.
We believe that parents are the first educators of their children and family engagement in learning is essential.
With a relationship built on trust and mutual respect, together we will take your child on an exciting journey of discovery and learning.
I look forward to sharing our beautiful school with you.
