About our school

Since 1857, Sacred Heart School has been a place of hope and opportunity for the poor and disadvantaged in Fitzroy. Founded by the Sisters of Mercy, the school has always placed the wellbeing of the vulnerable and voiceless at the heart of its mission.
Sacred Heart, Fitzroy continues to proudly look after the spiritual, intellectual, social, emotional and physical needs of every child. We provide a safe, caring and supportive learning environment and work to ensure that all students can experience success.
Learning is for life, not just for school.
We are a school community where everyone is known by name. We highly value the learning partnership between school and home and actively work to engage our families in a shared conversation about learning.
At Sacred Heart, we are focused on learning that enables us to participate fully in life in the 21st century. Our school vision – ‘We aspire to be a united community of faith and learning where love, hope and welcome fl ourish’ – inspires us in our work every day.
As the ¶¶ÒõÆƽâ School in All Saints Parish, we espouse the values taught by Jesus in the Gospels. Our school is enhanced by our richly diverse population. We welcome children and families of all nationalities and faith traditions.

Principal's Message
It is a great privilege to lead alongside the beautiful community of Sacred Heart Primary School in Fitzroy.
It is with great pride that I welcome you to our vibrant, inclusive and faith-filled community.
At Sacred Heart, we nurture the whole child in an environment built on connection, compassion and authentic relationships.
Our dedicated staff use evidence-based teaching, including explicit instruction and structured literacy, to support every student from Prep to Year 6.
In 2023, we unveiled a $2.2 million refurbishment in our Junior school area, creating inspiring learning spaces. A planned $2.5million refurbishment is planned for the Senior school and office area in 2026.
