Parade College VIC – Change Makers
At the request of Bishop Goold, Brother Ambrose Treacy, along with fellow Christian Brothers, Bodkin, Lynch and Nolan, left their homes in Ireland to travel to the other side of the world to establish schools in Victoria, arriving in 1868.
Brother Treacy was the first Principal of Parade College from 1871-1874 and, by 1900, he had established twenty-seven schools across Australia and one in New Zealand.
Brother Denis J. Moore, Principal of Parade College from 1995-2019, was the architect of significant change within the College community. Denis’ servant leadership led to the creation of a more outward looking College through community action initiatives, the development of curriculum and extracurricular activities promoting holistic education, the provision of alternative pathways for students, and enhancement of College facilities to provide Parade students with every opportunity for an engaging, and successful, school experience.
Under the guidance of Brother Denis J. Moore, John Nicholls, in collaboration with Anthony McKay, initiated the College’s applied learning programs including the introduction of the VCAL and VCE VM programs, the rapid development of a range of VET programs, the establishment of a Trade Training Centre, and achieving RTO status. Parade is recognised as an education leader in applied learning.
